The slow start to the flu season continues in Michigan as reports of flu-like symptoms have leveled off after a small rise.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services' weekly report on the flu showed a rise for the week ending October 10. The latest report, which is for the week ending October 17, shows a slight decline in reports of flu-like symptoms.

Levels still remain higher than seen since last spring, but those levels are low when compared to what has been reported at the same time of the year in other flu seasons.

The report uses data gathered from hospitals and doctors' offices across the state.
