Anne Wepman has been volunteering at Michigan Blood for over 40 years.

Michigan Blood will celebrate Anne's commitment and her 100th birthday during "Anne Wepman Day" on January 27.

Anne has been serving juice and cookies to donors on Monday afternoons for a long time.

Anne began volunteering at Michigan Blood’s former Fulton Street location around 1970 – early records don’t give an exact date – as a “bag lady” assembling the various components of the blood bags. “Giving of yourself is so important,” Anne says. “Monday is my best day of the week. It keeps you young because you’re with people and it just makes you feel good.”

“Anne really cares about our donors and they can tell and appreciate it,” says Donna Martorano, Director of Volunteer Services at Michigan Blood. “We get people who are blood donors who come back specifically on Monday afternoons, between noon and 4 p.m., just to come and visit with Anne.”

"Anne Wepman Day" will be celebrated on Monday, January 27.

Join Anne as she serves cake from Noon - 4:00pm at Michigan Blood’s Grand Rapids Donor Center at 1036 Fuller Ave NE.

Michigan Blood will also be open for blood donations, which are needed badly.

Happy birthday, Anne!
