The man sheriff's had to yank out of Lake Michigan in Grand Haven has now been charged with murder.

According to WZZM, 27-year-old Ryan Allen Berry led police on a chase to Grand Haven after allegedly killing Muskegon man 28-year-old Evan Yonker. Berry wound up stripping off his clothes then hopped into Lake Michigan where he surrendered to sheriff deputies via boat.

Berry was arraigned Friday at Muskegon County's 60th District court.

Berry has been charged with open murder, unlawful imprisonment, two counts of felony firearm and being a four time habitual offender.

Still no word on the Berry's motive for killing Yonker but he did know the victim.

Investigators have looked to Facebook for a couple clues:

Berry wrote on Facebook: "To everyone that I loved and that loved me, I'm sorry that it came to this. I always tried to be a good person but this f'd up life got the better of me. I lost the most important people in my life in a matter of days, thrown away for no reason. Goodbye."

Berry later wrote on Facebook, "Mom I love you and I'm sorry. I wasn't strong enough."

Berry's next appearance in court will be August 29.
