Kentwood Man Hit By Two Vehicles Died After One Fled The Scene

A man crossing the street in Kentwood was hit by a vehicle then moments later the man was hit by a second vehicle that fled the scene.

The unfortunate accident happened on Tuesday, February 7 around 8:40 p.m. when an adult male attempted to cross the street on East Beltline near Woodland Drive in Kentwood when he was struck by a vehicle that was driven by a 41-year-old male from Grand Rapids.

There is no word if the pedestrian was crossing mid-street or at a designated street corner on the Beltline but from what I gather from what has been reported by police it looks like the man crossed on foot mid-street.

What makes this story even worse, is moments later after the first vehicle struck the man, a second vehicle ran him over and then fled the scene. Police say the pedestrian that was hit was pronounced dead at the scene.

Description of Hit and Run Vehicle

According to WOOD, Kentwood Police Department said witnesses at the scene reported a dark-colored Ford F-150 pickup truck is the second vehicle that hit the 32-year-old man. The truck did not stop and basically pulled a hit-and-run.

So far the police investigation does not think alcohol or speed were the causes of the first vehicle striking the pedestrian because that driver did stay at the scene. The police have yet to determine which vehicle actually killed the man who was crossing the street on foot.

The investigation is far from over and police are still in search of the dark-colored Ford F-150 that fled the scene. The police need the public's help.
