Julia Child Coming to the Muskegon Museum of Art
Julia Child, the beloved TV chef, and cookbook author, who brought the art of French cooking to the American public, is coming to Muskegon.
In all seriousness, the traveling exhibit, "Julia Child: A Recipe for Life," will be at the Muskegon Museum of Art beginning tomorrow, June 4 through September 1.
In my opinion, the Muskegon Museum of Art is a hidden gem of West Michigan, having visited the museum many times.
It was established in 1912, and through the years has grown to be a true cultural arts center for West Michigan. And now with their new $15.4 million dollar expansion, they have doubled their size.
The "Julia Child: A recipe for Life" exhibit now enhances their reputation as a national arts destination.
Child, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 91, became a household name for teaching all of us French cooking. It was that sort of warble in her voice, and cheerfulness that made her so endearing and totally unaffected by it all.
Quoting the museum's press release:
"The exhibit offers a comprehensive view beyond her renowned status as a television personality and author. Visitors will experience interactive spaces like The French Chef television studio, where they can operate a vintage video camera, mix “ingredients”, and feel like part of the show. Photographs by Julia’s husband, Paul Child, are also included, along with her personal correspondence and favorite kitchen tools."
