Last weekend I played my first gig with my band the Smash Kings in a year and it was the first time I felt semi normal since the pandemic has begun.

Every state has been handling the pandemic different just like every state is opening back up different. I say that because I played a show in Indiana last week and they never really shut down like Michigan has since the pandemic began. Yes they shut down too but opened things up a lot sooner than we did here in Michigan, but they didn't have the cases like we have had here.

I have to tell you, it was nice seeing my bandmates again, seeing some old friends and knowing everyone around me had been vaccinated.

The club was packed, we all had fun and there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 who was at the show. So I feel that was a win for all involved.

Being vaccinated myself, I felt comfortable being around people that were not in my bubble because of it. Yes I still wear a mask when I go into a store, one to protect and respect the workers of the store and also protect myself incase someone has one of the new variants of the virus. So even though the CDC is saying we don't have to wear masks if we are vaccinated. There are some instances where it still makes sense so don't celebrate too much.

I had forgotten just how much I loved playing the guitar and playing with great musicians until last week and weekend. All week I spent every evening relearning the material and it paid off because we had a great couple sets last Saturday night.

I had a lot of anxiety about groups of people until I got vaccinated and even though it was only one day, it sure felt good to smile with friends and feel normal again.

Encourage those who have not been vaccinated to get it done so everyone can feel like I did, even if its just for one day.
