Restaurant Week Grand Rapids 2014 will burst on the scene in August again during the peak of the summer harvest in West Michigan. This year Restaurant Week GR will include 12 days of creative local 3-course menus at over 60 restaurants – from Wednesday, August 13 through Sunday, August 24 – adding an additional day for the event, which since 2010 has been 10 to 11 days.

The theme for Restaurant Week GR 2014 is “Perfect Pairings” to highlight wines, beer, spirits and coffees that pair well with menu items that restaurants will serve on their 3-course menus.

It’s not a secret that local brews are a passion here in Grand Rapids. Restaurant Week Partner, Founders Brewing Company, will help participating restaurants pair foods with their local beers. The Michigan Wineries, Black Star Farms and Fenn Valley, will be working with restaurants on wine pairings, along with Simi Winery out of Sonoma, California. Ferris Coffee and Nut are suggesting interesting coffee pairings for many dessert courses. Woodford Reserve is offering bourbon ideas for foods and pairings. Other beers, wines, and spirits will also be offered at most restaurants.

This year 60 Restaurants are currently signed on to feature 3-course menus for $28 and 2 people 3 course menus-for-$28 at some of the restaurants. Restaurant Week Menus from each restaurant will be announced mid-July. The public will be able to view menus starting the week of July 14 at restaurantweekgr.com. At that time the public will also be able to book reservations directly with the restaurants participating.

Personally, I can't wait!
