Big News! The Blind Squirrel Stolen Fish Is Back!
Earlier this week I wrote a story about a missing fish from the Blind Squirrel Tavern in Freemont.
The squirrel, a part of the tavern for the past 15-years, was suddenly missing when they opened up on Sunday, January 11. This was a heartbreaking moment for the tavern and patrons since it was a great conversation piece.
But, GOOD NEWS, the fish is back! Case solved and closed!
Owner Jason Sovinski told me that some random guy drove up to the back door in his pickup, placed it on the ground next to the door, and drove off.
Jason said he does have video of the "drop off" but is choosing to let it pass and not share it.
I had suggested Sherlock Holmes might get involved in the case but it seem this "Maltese Falcon" of a fish was too hot to handle with all of our publicity percolating out there, and he brought it back.
Jason said all is forgiven and he's glad it's back.

Since there weren't any pictures of the fish at the time I wrote the story, I has assumed this may have been a big, mounted prized fish.
Not exactly.
It is a cute fish sculpture with a big mouth, on a shelf between the women's and men's bathrooms, and Jason said it had become such a part of the Blind Squirrel that people would leave things it it's mouth. Now, don't get weird. People would leave things like recipes, notes to others, maybe love notes, who knows.
We just know that the anonymous perpetrator had a change of heart and that's a good thing!
Congratulations and thank you Mr.....uh.....fish lover!
