Gas prices are soooooo high! Do you think we have reached to "top-of-the-tank," so to speak? Or, will gas prices go higher?

The answer is quite possibly HIGHER!

$4.99 a gallon is the highest price reported in the Greater Grand Rapids area today. $4.99 in the Caledonia, Cedar Springs, Cascade and Forest Hill areas to name a few! Ouch! that is a major hurt.

There is lower priced gas to be had. Costco is at $4.49, but that is about the best you are going to do.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Fox17 is reporting "the sharp increase follows escalating tensions in the Middle East, the war in Iran, pipeline attacks, and continued Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries."

Patrick DeHaan of Gas Buddy said:

"To add insult to injury, what was a four-hour major power outage at a refinery outside Chicago over the weekend is now adding even more pain and misery. It hasn't happened yet, but it will happen. The wholesale price of gasoline is now up 60 cents since Monday."

Just be thankful we don't live on the West Coast. Gas prices from California to Washington were over $6 a gallon over the summer. They may be coming down a bit now, but still way our of affordable sight.

And, our hearts go out to truck drivers as diesel fuel is way above our gas prices. What is that going to do? For one, seriously hurt the lives of the drivers and their families. Two, those prices, at some point in time, have to be passed on to us consumers.

I'm shaking my head. Prices, not gas alone, keep going up and up. So, what's one to do?

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR GAS MILEAGE

Gas prices are climbing again, with the national average now sitting around $4.53 a gallon according to AAA, the highest since 2022. 
So if filling your tank now feels like financing a small yacht, here are a few ways experts say you can stretch every gallon a little farther:
