Flu in Michigan Near Highest Level Since 2009 H1N1 Pandemic
After a mild start to the flu season in Michigan, reports of flu-like symptoms are rising sharply according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
The weekly flu report from the MDHHS shows that statewide reports of flu-like symptoms have risen each week in Michigan since the end of January. The southwest region of the state is seeing the biggest spike.
Statewide flu levels are near the highs seen over the last three years, but still a long way off the levels from the pandemic flu season of 2009-10.
There have been 250 reported hospitalizations due to the flu in Michigan this season.
Michigan, along with most of the country, is experiencing "widespread" flu activity. The Upper Peninsula's Chippewa County is among those areas hardest hit by the flu in Michigan.
This flu report uses data for the week ending February 27, 2016.
