With the warm weather, comes the bright orange cones and detours.  Construction men and women who take their own lives into their hands and hope and pray that distracted, texting drivers pay attention to the "slow down" signs.
Beginning on Monday, April 23rd through Wednesday, May 16th expect detours and delays on both US 131 and I 196.  The repairs will cause two ramps to close north of the downtown Grand Rapids interchange that will most likely affect your morning and afternoon commute.

MDOT will be closing the ramp from westbound I-196 to northbound US-131 from April 23 to May 5. Then once that repair is completed the ramp from eastbound I-196 to northbound US-131 will be closed from May 7 to May 16.

There will also be nighttime lane closures on US-131 at the 6th Street bridge will "occasionally occur" after 8 p.m., but they are expecting to keep a minimum of two lanes open.

Here's the exact rundown:

Ramp from WB I-196 to NB US-131
Closed
Monday (4/23) thru Saturday (5/7)

Ramp from EB I-196 to NBUS-131
Closed
Monday (5/7) through Wednesday (5/16)
