This is some of the best news of the summer.  MDOT tweeted out this morning,

Good news, #GrandRapids! The WB I-196 bridge over the Grand River is on track to reopen to traffic this Friday.

That's right!  MDOT is hoping to have the bridge across the Grand River on WB 196 back open after being closed all summer while they replaced the decking and widened the bridge to help with the population increase around West Michigan.

The reopening of the bridge will also help the massive traffic jam that happens daily in downtown Grand Rapids.

MDOT says they will now focus all their attention on finishing up the 96/196 Flip that's scheduled to be done by October 25th.  Who knows, they may even get that done ahead of schedule.
