Car Seat Laws That Every Michigan Parent Should Know

It's very important that every Michigan parent should understand and know about car seat laws.

When my kids were first born, I had to read all kinds of information including using the right car seat, how to fasten the seat belts through the infant car seat, and so many more seat belt information.

According to the Detroit Free Press, car accidents are the leading cause of death for children under 13.  Many of these children were not using car seats or seat belts at the time of the crash.

The Detroit Free Press also adds car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and by 54% for toddlers, according to the National Safety Council.

It's all about choosing the right car seat according to the Detroit Free Press.  Michigan law requires all children under 8 years of age or shorter than 57 inches tall to ride in a car seat or booster seat.  But a car seat can't protect a child if it's the wrong size.  Start with the right seat and use it until the child exceeds  either the age or the height requirement.
