Sometimes believing Lady Luck isn't on your side can cost you in a very hard-to-take way.  That's what happened when a New York state worker recently said "no" to taking part in the office pool for the Mega Millions jackpot.  An acquaintance of the unidentified man told the "New York Post" that the guy usually joined the pool, but told his coworkers he just wasn't feeling lucky this time.

It turns out his seven coworkers won last Friday's 319-million-dollar Mega jackpot.  The mystery loser could have won a 16-million-dollar after-tax share of the prize money.  There's word that the winners haven't shown up for work this week, although one of them did notify lottery officials about the group's winning ticket.
