Police are looking for a semi-truck driver who hit and killed a man on I-94 near the 40th Street exit in Charleston Township early Friday.

Fox 17 reports that the victim, a 49-year-old Battle Creek man, had been helping a friend whose car had run out of gas. 

The accident happened around 2:40a.m. Police say the man was putting gas in his friend's van when a semi sideswiped the vehicle, killing him instantly.

The victim's friend and another passenger were hospitalized for shock.

The semi truck did not stop. It is described as a black or dark-colored cab with a white trailer.
