You never know what you'll see at ArtPrize.

Luis Raul Poveda's "Golden Child" at Sin Republic is proof.

Poveda dresses in a gold sequin outfit for this performance piece which finds him trapped in a glass case and playing with toys.

Visitors also have a chance for some hands-on fun. Poveda explains, "there is a ball pit involved for those brave enough to retreat back to a memory in their childhood".

Visitors may also write on the acrylic walls of the case with the provided writing tools.

Poveda gives some background to help others better understand what the piece means.

"I hope people understand this is my story, and that it is the past, and that "Golden Child" is merely an introduction of the type of artist I want to be."

Poveda also explained that these types of playful pieces "bring people together even if it is for criticism".

An interesting piece that's sure to get a wide variety of reactions.

The performance schedule for "Golden Child":

  • Monday - Friday, 5:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, 2:00pm - 4:00pm
The video shows Poveda performing in another city and gives an idea of what to expect.
