ArtPrize Going Gangnam Style
ArtPrize has announced a new addition for 2020, the ArtPrize Gangnam Showcase.
The ArtPrize Gangnam Showcase is one part of a three-part ArtPrize international event that will celebrate Korean artists in Seoul, then bring their work to ArtPrize 2020 in Grand Rapids.
Part 1: ArtPrize Gangnam Roadshow
- The Gangnam Roadshow has already taken place. It was a Seoul-based version of ArtPrize. Over 100 artists displayed work in ten venues from Sep. 20 to Oct. 4. All venues were design retailers on Nonhyun Furniture Street in Seoul’s Gangnam district. Visitors voted for their favorite art and the top ten received cash prizes.
Part 2: ArtPrize Gangnam Showcase
- The ArtPrize Gangnam Showcase will happen in Seoul in early 2020. This will be a version of ArtPrize’s Pitch Night program. Five artists will be selected from the ArtPrize Gangnam Roadshow's top ten for a chance to win a grant to bring their work to ArtPrize in Grand Rapids in 2020. In front of a live audience and a panel of judges, each artist will propose what they’d like to bring to ArtPrize. The judges will select a winner and the winner will receive a $25,000 grant to help bring their artwork to ArtPrize 2020 in Grand Rapids.
Part 3: ArtPrize 2020
- The third phase is the display of the winner's work at ArtPrize 2020 as part of the exhibition at DeVos Place Convention Center.
ArtPrize 2020 will take place in Grand Rapids from Sep. 16 to Oct. 4.
