One look at Atlas and you can immediately understand how hard his life on the streets was for years, yet he has kept an incredibly positive spirit through it all.

You've got to meet Atlas! See him at Crash's Landing today!

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Each Friday on 100.5 The River is Purrrfect Friday, where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home.

This week, we're spotlighting Atlas.

Atlas came to Crash's Landing from Lansing just one month ago. A woman had found him in her neighborhood and brought him in. She contacted Crash's Landing after discovering that he was FIV positive. Crash's Landing is one of the few places in the Midwest that takes FIV positive cats.

Atlas' left ear was damaged beyond repair, most likely from a nasty, chronic ear infection that caused both eardrums to rupture. He was also loaded with fleas, had an infected toe, broken and missing teeth, and an abscessed ear tip.

Even with all of these troubles, Atlas remained positive. He is very friendly and loves to give and receive affection. His transition to Big Sid's (Crash's Landing's home for FIV positive cats) was smooth. He follows the volunteers around, he jumps up out of sleep at the possibility of food, and he can't stand missing a moment of action!
