According to the Barry-Eaton District Health Department, 76 people have fallen ill after eating at a restaurant in Charlotte.

WILX 10 reported that Tequila's Mexican Grill closed last week after nearly 40 people came down with a gastrointestinal illness after eating at the restaurant between Saturday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 18.

The heath department allowed Tequila's to reopen Wednesday, June 22, after ready-to-eat food was disposed of, and an "environmental cleaning". However, after more cases were reported, the health department shut down the restaurant again on Friday.

The health department continues to investigate.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Anne Barna, a spokeswoman for the health department said, "We don't think it was a virus, which is a little bit unusual. We've sent out samples to be tested, and, based on those results, we may or may not be able to tell. We're also looking at the pattern of illness, as well, When we just have people's recollections to go off of, quite often we can't say with certainty."
