Degage Event for Women at Celebration Cinema North Thursday

 

Dégagé Ministries invites women in the community to join them at their event, Open Door Open Hearts, on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Celebration! Cinema Wave Room, 2121 Celebration Drive NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. This event is for women, to benefit women. The event will provide attendees with a fun and relaxing evening, including a strolling dinner, speakers and activities, along with concrete ways for how to support women in crisis in their community.

This coming Wednesday, December 18 from 12 – 4 pm Heartside neighbors will have the opportunity to shop and pay for reduced cost Christmas gifts and winter essentials at Degage’s Christmas Store event. Degage believes that when neighbors have the opportunity to purchase their own gifts and essentials, it will build confidence and responsibility versus receiving free gifts.

Heartwarming Video about Another Homeless Man With a Happy Ending (video)

We're all aware of the story about Grand Rapids homeless veteran, Jim Wolf who got a sort of 'make over.'  I wrote a blog about Jim a couple of weeks ago here on our website.

The video that was made of Jim's transformation went viral and got thousands of comments, and we can only pray that that small act of kindness will be the catalyst for Jim's recovery.

Grand Rapids’s Heartside Neighborhood “Meet & Greet” is Tonight at 4 p.m.

It's a fast, changing area, South Division in downtown Grand Rapids, is.  Better known as the Heartside Neighborhood, and home for many missions and shelters who try to take care of the homeless, down and out, who have no where else to turn.

However, this area is changing into an arts district, with artists studios and galleries, and some retail moving back into the abandoned shops.  Also, housing is becoming a big part of the neighborhood, whose past has kept so many people away as a "scary" place to be.
