DWTS Eliminates One. Host Wants Her Money

It's apparently going to take more than a name change to help Metta World Peace compete on the dance floor. The man once known as Ron Artest was the first contestant to be eliminated from the competition on the new season of "Dancing With The Stars" Tuesday night.

"Dancing With The Stars" co-host Brooke Burke has or had an endorsement deal memorializing her purported use of underWAY, a weight loss drink. In late-2009, Burke, 40, entered into endorsement and commercial contracts worth nearly $600,000 with Better Health Beverage, producer of underWAY.

Gaining / Losing Weight Via Television

Isn't it interesting that much of America has a diet issue, yet we have two cooking networks on cable TV and ABC soon begins it's all-cooking daytime TV line-up? And at the same time, we have TV shows like "Biggest Loser."

Reality shows focused on weight loss affect more than just the participants. According to a new Thomson Reuters poll, 57-percent of the people who regularly watch these types of shows say the programs have influenced the way they eat. In addition, 48-percent report they've been inspired to change their exercise habits. The affects are the most pronounced on those medically considered to be overweight or obese, and on viewers 35 and younger.

Changes To Facebook

New Facebook changes have been made to the number one social media site, according to a Facebook blog posted yesterday.

The most dramatic change Facebook users will notice is a change in Facebook news feeds. Rather than appearing in chronological order, Facebook news feeds will now be displayed by each individual's viewing habits.

Facebook explained its change:

"When you pick up a newspaper after not reading it for a week, the front page quickly clues you into the most interesting stories. In the past, News Feed hasn't worked like that. Updates slide down in chronological order so it's tough to zero in on what matters most.

Now, News Feed will act more like your own personal newspaper. You won't have to worry about missing important stuff. All your news will be in a single stream with the most interesting stories featured at the top. If you haven't visited Facebook for a while, the first things you'll see are top photos and statuses posted while you've been away. They're marked with an easy-to-spot blue corner."

The other major change announced yesterday was a real-time ticker which is designed to allow friends to instantly join conversations over new posts.

Singles Week. Role Model?

Andy and I have been talking about singles week on 100.5 WTRV FM. While many people say they are single and "looking," others are very happy living on their own.

George Clooney and Cameron Diaz are the top role models for singles. Nearly a third of the men taking part in a new Zoosk.com poll say they believe Clooney leads a "fabulous unmarried life," while 62-percent of the women think Diaz has "the ultimate unmarried life."
