Kim Carson
Hey Kim Carson here! I have lived all over this country but no other place is like Grand Rapids! I love West Michigan and it's the only place I've ever lived that I actually purchased a home. I am originally from Detroit and grew up listening to 93FM WDRQ. That is where I first met my mentor, Rockin' Ron Baptist! Years later he became my "life mate". He passed away six months after I moved to Grand rapids. Still miss him very much. Ron, gave me my first break in radio (at a time when women were not even on the air). I started on the air in Knoxville, Tennessee at the age of 16 (I attended summer school for 2 years so I could graduate a year earlier). My radio career has taken me to Detroit Michigan for 12+ years, Oklahoma City, Greensboro, North Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina (for two weeks until Hurricane Hugo moved in a took my radio station away), Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Toledo, Ohio. I love what I do because it gives me a platform to help the community in which I live. I love meeting my listeners at remote broadcasts and I enjoy chatting with them when they call me at 616-770-8200. Hope one day I might be able to chat with you and find out what you're all about:-) I am also the author of "Essence Of Life: A Compilation Of Story And Poem" You can learn a little more about me at Faith Hope And Love Songs. Please join me Middays, 10am-3pm Eastern, 100.5 The River. Listen online too at www.wtrv.com ps Love it if you could join me for my weekend show too! It's Faith Hope and Love Songs and it's an inspirational, positive and uplifting show with artist interviews and positive music. Faith Hope and Love Songs airs Sundays 9-11am Eastern and repeats again 7-9pm Eastern. Listen in and I think you'll like it:-) Wanna chat? Here's my email address kim.carson@townsquaremedia.com

Go Fly A Kite! At The Great Lakes Kite Festival In Grand Haven
Talked to Josh Depenbrok this morning from grNow and he mentioned the Great Lakes Kite Festival. It took me back to my days in Detroit. I couldn't wait for the springtime when the wind would start kicking up and I would head over to the church parking lot where there weren't too many overhead wires and I would run as fast as I could to get my kite in the air. I would make it dip and soar. I think kids who

7 Things Pet Owners Do That Drive Veterinarians Crazy!
Dr. Jen at Clyde Park Veterinary Clinic is one of the most compassionate loving people that I know. She and her volunteers give endless amounts of time and energy to the welfare and well being of the animals that they care for
Didn’t They Hear, Money Can’t Buy You Love? [video]
Apparently not. There are some clients that are pretty dissatisfied with a local dating service here in Grand Rapids. They believe that they paid too much for a chance at love and got little in return. Eli
8 Signs Of An Extraordinary Boss, Does Your Boss Possess Any Of Them?
Thanks so much to Ann, one of my Facebook friends, for sending me this article. She said she saw me on WZZM 13 talking about this one story in the news. A few weeks back an employee donated a kidney to her boss who then proceeded to fire her. By the amount of email and Facebook posts I received, most people did understand the point I was trying to make. The point being, it's best to not do something expecting something in return. What was "owed" or "expected" from this so-called "donation" should have been discussed beforehand.
What Teachers Make: A Pro Teacher Moment By Taylor Mali [video]
This video already went viral and with the school year soon coming to a close I thought it might be appropriate to share this with you today.
Think back to your childhood. You may have been lucky enough to have a couple teachers who really meant something to you. I was fortunate to have a handful. Long after I left elementary, middle and high school I stayed in touch with many of my teachers. I would go back and visit them in Detroit or speak for a career day. I considered them my friends long after my school years.

West Michigan’s John Ball Zoo & Binder Park Zoo Are Now Officially OPEN
This is the closest many of us will ever get to seeing animals in a somewhat natural habitat. At least they are protected and won't be hunted down like so many animals in the wild. Rhino's in South Africa were the animals most recently in the news.
So if you want to see animals that are protected, loved, and nurtured we have two zoos in our area that are now officially open. The John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids and the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek.
Apple Farmer Says, “We’re Just Growing Trees This Year”
Sad. That's all I can say I felt when I read this headline on mLive. Sad.
Apple farmer says, "We're just growing trees this year."
It was the apple farmers greatest fear and honestly it was my greatest fear too, because no one in this country can grow tasty apples like Michigan farmers can. Well, this season is pretty much a bust for West Michigan apple growers.
ALERT! Burglaries & Scams Are On The Rise In Grand Rapids & West Michigan
It happened to me recently and thought I'd share it with you. I was working in the yard recently when it was raining, and three white males walked up my driveway. They were in their early 20's, all wearing orange caps with white lettering on them, they parked a taupe colored, medium sized car in front of one of the neighbors homes
