The weather wasn't exactly Hawaii-like, but that didn't stop hundreds from transforming Coopersville into Hoopersville on Friday!

Hula-hoopers gathered at Bronco Stadium on Friday night in an attempt to break the record for most people dancing with a hula hoop at one time.

Organizers of the event were hoping to have 1,000 people participate, but poor weather played a factor as a crowd of 345 gathered and danced together.  The world record attempt fell short, but another attempt is already in the works.  WZZM reports:

A school district in Australia holds on to its record of 637 participants for now, but the Coopersville community is determined to give it another shot. The superintendent of Coopersville Public Schools has already given the green light to try breaking the record again during a football game this season, which alone should ensure a large crowd.

It's disappointing to miss the world record, but there's about 345 people who can't wait to try again!
