The World Affairs Council of Western Michigan is presenting their ninth annual CHINA Town Hall, Monday, October 5, and will feature a live, nationally broadcasted webcast panel discussion on Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States.The China Town Hall will be at the University Club, 10th Floor, Fifth Third Bank Building, 111 Lyon St. NW, downtown Grand Rapids.

Prior to this webcast, the Council will be hosting China specialist Henry Levine.

Just back from meetings in Beijing,  Henry Levine, Senior China Advisor, Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG) in Washington, DC., will give an analysis on U.S.-China relations, including insider thoughts on the challenges and uncertainty the Chinese economy currently faces.

Prior to joining ASG, Mr. Levine was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Asia. He was responsible for increasing market access for U.S. companies
in the economies of East Asia, with an emphasis on China.

Mr. Levine also served as the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai, China from 1999-2002.

Following Mr. Levine's talk, there will be a National Webcast with a distinguished panel that includes:

Robert Rubin, Secretary of the Treasury under President Bill Clinton; Sheldon Day, Mayor, Thomasville, Alabama (location of a major Chinese-owned factory); Daniel Rosen, Founding Partner, Rhodium Group; and, Stephen Orlins, President, National Committee on U.S.-China Relations

The panel will discuss Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States.
