A woman who said a deputy sexually assaulted her, has now admitted to lying about the assault.

According to FOX 17, Kellie Bartlett who is the wife of a police chief in Lansing, Michigan has admitted to prosecutors that she made up the story about an Eaton County deputy raping her.

Bartlett filed a complaint in 2018 with the Michigan State Police that a deputy she was dating on the side sexually assaulted her.

When the police began investigating the alleged assault, they discovered that Bartlett's phone records compiled with additional evidence that she made the claim of assault because she was actually retaliating against the deputy for dumping her.

Bartlett admitted to making up the whole story as well as forging a medical signature and fessed up to stalking a woman who has since married the deputy.

A plea deal was made with prosecutors to drop a load of charges but Bartlett is still charged with making a false report to the police, identity theft, stalking, unauthorized access of a computer and lying to the police.

Bartlett is scheduled for sentencing on January 30, 2020.
