A Norwegian based production company is Up North this week shooting "Wine First" in Traverse City. On "Wine First" two sommeliers join a food writer to evaluate wines of a particular region and find fresh local ingredients for a dish to pair with the wines.
Now in it's second season, this is the first time "Wine First" will be shooting in the U.S.
Here's a description of the "Wine First" from PBS:
WINE FIRST is a series that matches delicious wine and food, taking viewers through some of the most beautiful European wine regions. Sommelier Liora Levi and food enthusiast Yolanda Año search for three wines that reflect the character of the area. The duo then challenge one renowned local chef to cook three dishes that complement the taste and qualities of each of their chosen wines.
For the episode on Traverse City, they'll be highlighting the wines of Chateau Chantal, Bry’s Estate, and Black Star Farms.
The head chef at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, Austin Minnich, is taking on the challenge of finding the right food to pair with the wines picked by the hosts.
"Wine First" is shooting in Traverse City through this Saturday, July 23.
We'll be able to watch on PBS later this year!
According to a release, "Wine First" is carried on 90-percent of American Public Television stations and is also distributed internationally.
