One of the scariest things that can happen to a pet owner is to have their pet run away.

That, unfortunately, happened to Amy and Craig Tucker of Muskegon, Michigan.

Back in October Amy and Craig took their two-year-old Boxer Catahoula mix Harley  Quinn to a boarding facility before heading north for a business trip. Less than 15 minutes later they received a phone call that no pet owner would ever want to get.

It was the boarding facility telling them that somehow Harley had gotten out and they couldn't find her.

Craig had to leave for his business trip, and Amy stayed behind looking for Harley but had no luck.

Friends, family, and neighbors kept an eye out for the family dog and actually spotted Harley on a Ring camera. For weeks and weeks, people would spot her, but Harley would take off before anyone could get close enough to try and catch her.

Craig himself actually saw Harley walk out of the woods and tried to call her, but she got skittish, turned around, and ran back into the woods.

Batman Saves The Day

This story about a missing dog does have a happy ending, and it's thanks to animal control specialist Carl Johnson, also known to many in Muskegon as "Batman".

Carl set out two traps on Thanksgiving night to try and catch Harley, and when he went out to check them Friday morning, Harley was inside one of them.

Carl aka Batman was able to reunite Harley Quinn with her overjoyed family.

Amy and Craig Tucker told WZZM their family is overjoyed to have Harley back home.
"It really took everybody. It was a big emotional rollercoaster to go through all of this, especially for Harley out there. She's still a puppy out there just trying to survive, but she's alive and well."
