Thrillist ranked all 50 states according to how beautiful they are.  And guess what state is the only eastern state to be considered pretty?

Thrillist list tends to glorify mountain states

Here's a list that will undoubtedly elicit retaliation: Thrillist.com just ranked all 50 states in order of their BEAUTIFULNESS. Their whole writing crew has visited each of the 50 states at least once. As a result, they debated and compiled a list.

9 out of the ten state's listed as 'America's Most Beautiful States' were from the Mountain West and beyond. California, Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington were all mentioned.

Michigan holds up pride for all of Eastern US

But there was ONE state that made the list that was different from the rest. One state all alone in representing ALL the states east of the Mississippi.

MICHIGAN!

"They like us! They really, really like us!" to paraphrase Sally Field.

Yes, they do. And what's not to like.

Michigan has a variety of beautiful locales

Miles and miles of beautiful shoreline. More lighthouses than any other states. And our own little mountain range, the Porcupines, which is filled with waterfalls and stunning vistas.

Sleeping Bear, Pictured Rocks, Isle Royale, the list of scenic Michigan spots is endless if you put your mind to it. And it's so big that many of us who live here can't even hit all the pretty spots in our lifetime!

Here's what Thrillist had to say about our beloved Mitten State:

Taken on their own, the Upper or Lower Peninsulas could have ranked in the upper tiers of this list. Combine them, and you get 3,288 miles of pure Michigan coast, and the most beautiful state east of the Mississippi River. And that's saying a lot for a Midwestern state—just look at how Michigan's neighbors fared. From the unspoiled forests of the UP to the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan to the craggy coast of Lake Huron, and the more than 11,000 inland lakes between, you could spend years exploring Michigan, and never reach the end of those good waters.

Not everyone can be beautiful. We're looking at you, Indiana.

If you're into ugly, Kansas comes in last place. In general, flat states did not fare well. They simply remarked that driving through Kansas is flat and dull. So there you have it.

The remaining states in the bottom five are: Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Oklahoma. Those five are said to have the LEAST to offer in terms of scenery.
