The ice storm that rolled through West Michigan last night brought down trees and powerlines, knocking out power for almost 50,000 people.  One of our listeners caught some of the power outage on camera in the form of exploding power transformers.  This was shot in downtown Grand Rapids.

Almost 50,000 people, spread across all of West Michigan, woke up to no power this morning.  The outage map looked like an incomplete puzzle this morning, which is probably making it even harder to restore power due to all of these isolated outages.
