The piece was designed by Michelle Meyer from Arizona. Meyer's piece can be found at the corner of Monroe and Louis St NW across from Rosa Parks Circle. Here, Meyer describes the process she's gone through to enter the competition.

"Retro Maven" is designed to represent life watching art and art watching life. She uses street sign vinyl which is a reflective material. She goes on to explain that a "Maven" is an enthusiast. She says the piece is built to play off of it's environment.

Michelle Meyer left from Arizona 2 days ago. On her first leg of driving, she made it to Oklahoma City. On her second portion, Maven in tow, she arrived in Grand Rapids at 1am. A part of her display was damaged during it's cross country trek. She mentioned they have the supplies with them to fix to damaged edge.
