Over 350 volunteers gathered in Grand Rapids to assemble over 1,000 bikes for Grand Rapids children.

The bikes will be delivered for Christmas.

The volunteers are a part of the Elves and More Bike Build.

The Elves and More Bike Build has given away almost 9,000 bikes in Grand Rapids over the last 8 years.

Saturday morning, 350 volunteers gathered at the Van's Delivery warehouse to build bikes for children in need. More than 1,000 bicycles were pieced together as part of the Elves and More Bike Build. They'll be delivered to a secret location next week for children in one Grand Rapids neighborhood.

"Everybody is really excited about helping kids at the holidays," says organizer Liz Bracken. "We've delivered almost 9,000 bikes to the Grand Rapids area in the last eight years, and we're looking forward to doing a lot more."

Volunteers are also creating 300 'treasure boxes' for the children. The gifts were paid for by community donations.

Another great example of the many amazing and generous people we have in West Michigan.
