Life has been a bit rough for the United States Postal Service, USPS, for the past several years.

We're not sending many letters anymore because it's so easy with email, Facebook Messenger, and any other form of social media. We're certainly not sending as many greeting cards, birthday, anniversary, graduation, thank you cards or any other kind you can think of. We just send an email, text, whatever.

It's sad because there is no doubt that I get all excited when I actually get a note or card in the mail and I'm sure we all do.

But, times change.

So, with the tremendous slowdown of normal first class mail, the revenue slows down as well. As a matter of fact, it drops way down.

Therefore, USPS prices have to go up to generate enough income to still provide the service we all still expect.

That said, the postal service is about to switch postage prices up on us again, our sister station, 107.9 LITE FM reports.

The official USPS website announced the new pricing that began this past Sunday, January 19, 2025. It's all part of their 10-year “Delivering for America Plan.”

WHAT SERVICE PRICES ARE GOING UP?

USPS Ground Advantage: 3.9% average increase
Priority Mail Service: 3.2% average increase
Priority Mail Express Service: 3.2%

Here's a bit of good news. First-class and Forever stamps will not go up! They jumped in July to 73 cents and will stay the same.

You do know that Forever stamps are good "forever!" It doesn't matter when you bought them and how much they were back then, they are good FOREVER!

Whew!
