Three Arrested for Passing Counterfeit Bills in Mecosta County
Three men from the Chicago area were arrested Saturday in Big Rapids for passing fake bills.
Wood TV 8 reports that after investigating, police were able to connect the men to other counterfeit money offenses in West Michigan.
Saturday evening, the suspects used fake $100 bills to buy small items at Jimmy John's, Shell, Bob Evans, Wesco, and Dunhams Sports in Big Rapids Township, in order to receive large amounts of change.
When police arrested them, they found several counterfeit $100 bills and more than $1,500 in real money.
WZZM-13 reports the suspects, aged 19, 24, and 27, are being held at the Mecosta County jail on felony charges.
The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office, Big Rapids Department of Public Safety, and U.S. Secret Service continue to investigate.
