‘The Voice’ Season 8 Judges Announced: Christina Aguilera Is Back
Get ready, 'The Voice' fans: Christina Aguilera is coming back!
On the Tuesday, Oct. 14, Carson Daly announced on the 'Today Show' that Aguilera will be back to sit in the judges' chair for Season 8, along with Pharrell, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Season 8 will air on NBC beginning in early 2015.
It was widely expected that Aguilera would be back for Season 8. At the time Season 7 began filming, Aguilera was pregnant with her baby girl, Summer Rain Rutler. Gwen Stefani was brought in to replace Aguilera for Season 7, but Stefani's deal was only for one season.
For the past two years, Shakira has sat in place of Aguilera for the spring seasons (Season 4 and Season 6) and while Shakira won't be back again this spring, she has expressed interest in returning in future seasons.
Joining Aguilera are seasoned 'Voice' vets Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, as well as Pharrell, who made his debut as a 'Voice' judge on Season 7. Pharrell replaced Cee-Lo Green, who permanently vacated his spot after Season 5 to focus on new ventures.
It should also be noted that Aguilera has revealed that she is working on a new album for 2015 and her spot back on 'The Voice' would be a great avenue for her to promote it.
