Did you know L. Frank Baum wrote The Wizard of Oz at a cottage near Lake Michigan? An actual yellow-brick road is being paved to honor his work.

WICKED, Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, will make its Grand Rapids premiere on the DeVos Performance Hall stage October 18- November 5. Tickets for the 3-week run will go on sale Thursday, June 15!

According to recent reports, one of the iconic dresses worn by Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz has recently sold at auction for $1.56 million.

All of us have a few classic movies which we've seen over and over again. We know every scene and we know all the classic lines or songs, but it can be fun to experience those movies from a whole new perspective. View "The Wizard of Oz" through the eyes of 7-year-old who is seeing it for the very first time.

There's no place like home.  After watching the Grand Rapids Civic Theater's presentation of the Wizard of Oz, that message rings loud and clear.  The Civic's talented cast is led by 15-year-old Amanda Wright of Caledonia, who plays Dorothy. It's just like watching the TV movie with Judy Garland, but better because it's live LOCAL  theater!

Theater is alive and well in Grand Rapids. How about spending an exciting, exhilarating,  thrilling, (enough with the adjectives), night at the theater.  Going to the movies is great, but I have two wonderful, legitimate theater, ideas for you.
