The Michigan DNR has announced that for the second straight year they will join with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency to offer alternative camping options for those veterans and other visitors, including pet owners, seeking a quieter holiday.

Many of our hero's of WWII have been flying to Washington D.C. for visits to the WWII Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and other points of interest. I had the honor of Emceeing an event several weeks ago here in Grand Rapids just before several of our WWII Veterans boarded flights to DC. I'll have to admit, I sure didn't see anything like this happen.

Michigan Veterans, take heart.  At last, a coordinated effort to help Veterans in Michigan.  The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, a newly created agency earlier this year, has been established to be a central coordinating point for all of the existing programs out there.

On December 15, volunteers gathered to honor and remember veterans in Grand Rapids. Over 100 wreaths were laid on the graves of veterans in Grand Rapids.
