When you think of Windmill Island in Holland, what do you think of? Tulips, of course. Thousands and thousands of beautiful tulips. But they only bloom in the spring, just in time for the Tulip Festival. So, after that, there is nothing to see except for the historic Windmill, right? Not on you life.

Next week, July 24-30, Windmill Island Gardens will celebrate Peak Week, the period of summer when the gardens are at the height of their beauty! The week will be filled with flowers and fun for all ages. As an added incentive to enjoy the gardens during Peak Week, an accompanying child can enter for free with every purchase of an adult ticket!

Tulip Time is months away, but Holland is already preparing. See how the City of Holland Parks and Recreation Department manages to plant seven miles of tulip lanes filled with over 250,000 tulip bulbs.

Valentine's Day is almost at hand.  And, guys, I know how challenging it can be to find the right gift for your sweetheart, especially flowers. It's almost that time.  What time is that?   It's almost Tulip Time!  It is kind of hard to believe, isn't it?  On Friday I was walking around my backyard enjoying all the greenery.  I couldn't believe me eyes!  My grass was still green, some flowers were still in bloom, my crocuses and daffodils were growing and beginning to turn green...

I have been patiently waiting for my tulips to finally bloom.  The cooler weather has kept them from opening.  But the last couple days of sunshine did it!  I purchased these bulbs from Holland.  Not Holland Michigan but actually Holland in the Netherlands...
