The travel headache in Northern Michigan that's likely to happen due to the closure of the Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day is getting worse.

More and more schools in Michigan are starting before Labor Day, despite the law that technically makes it illegal for schools to do so.  Schools can apply for waivers to the law in order to start class in August, and this year a record number of schools applied...

The Labor Day Bridge Walk has been a tradition in Michigan for 60 years. 30,000 - 60,000 people cross the Mackinac Bridge and prepare for the end of summer. On Tuesday, the Mackinac Bridge Authority announced that for the first time the Mackinac Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic during the Labor Day Bridge Walk. The closing is due to security concerns.

Time to enjoy one last long weekend before we complete the unofficial transition from summer to fall. West Michigan is full of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy Labor Day weekend!

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will suspend construction on 114 of 155 active projects statewide for Labor Day weekend. See which 41 projects will continue to have traffic restrictions.

Hard to believe September is here, isn't it? Seems like the summer went awfully fast. But here it is, Labor Day. And if you're looking for something to do today, I'd like to point you toward Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids for Labor Fest 2014...

The yearly Grand Crossings Bridge Walk is set for Monday morning in downtown Grand Rapids. The walk will start at 8 a.m. at Ah-Nab-Awen Park at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and will be led by Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell.

To make travel easier, the Michigan Department of Transportation will lift most road restrictions over Labor Day weekend, with 126 of 156 construction projects having lane restrictions lifted for the weekend. See which projects will remain active.
