After delays due to weather, ice skating season at Rosa Parks Circle downtown Grand Rapids will begin Thursday Dec. 1, 2022.

Ice skating is back "full force" at Rosa Parks Circle this year - and we now know when the rink opens for the season.

Even though the wintertime is coming, there is plenty to do throughout the entire winter season right here in Grand Rapids.

Don't break out your ice skates and head to Rosa Parks Circle just yet, the winter skating season is being postponed due to construction delays.

So it's been a bit up in the air this year, when will Rosa Parks Circle transform into the ice skating rink downtown? If you've been around the downtown area recently, you've noticed they're definitely getting the ice rink ready for use...

We have a lot of outdoor, winter activities this first weekend of 2020. From skating at Rosa Parks Circle to a Winter West Festival at Richmond Park, and snowshoeing at Blandford Nature Center… get out and have some fun this winter. Indoor activities include a Bridal Show, a Model Railroad Show, Finding Your Roots, a show at the Planetarium, Comedy, the Symphony, and Basketball. A weekend full of fun things to do.

There are a lot of Christmas related events this weekend along with some comedy and music. We also have a few outdoor activities from skating to fat tire biking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. There is The Nutcracker, The Polar Express, Lights Out and Basketball. We also have a Santa Parade and a Santa Train!

The lower wind chills get, the better ice skating indoors sounds!

Due to warmer weather at the end of last week, the City of Grand Rapids announced that ice skating will now begin at the downtown rink at noon on Wednesday, December 4.

Ice skating is back at Rosa Parks circle downtown Grand Rapids next week, if the weather cooperates.
