The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA), the Fed Galleries at KCAD, and the Grand Rapids Art Museum will display the work of 26 U.S. and international artists in Art of the Lived Experiment, a contemporary Disability Art exhibition on view April 10 – July 31, 2015.

TODAY, Nov. 11 at 7:30 a.m. Gilda’s LaughFest, the nation’s first ever community-wide festival of laughter, will announce headlining artists performing at the 2015 10-day festival, which runs March 5 - 15. This morning's event is free and open to the public.

Visitors to Downtown Grand Rapids will be able to play with an over-sized chess set soon, according to Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. On Wednesday night it was announced that the group plans to unveil the outdoor chess board Thursday morning. The board is described simply as "giant" (the size has not been specified).

The third installment of the Grand Rapids Art Museum's three-year, three-exhibition partnership with the Whitney Museum of American Art opens Feb. 2 with Legacy: The Emily Fischer Landau Collection.

For the past four years, ArtPrize has been easily among the most anticipated events in Grand Rapids. ArtPrize is 2½ weeks in late September and early October celebrating art with thousands of people visiting from aross the country for the public art competition. Another sign of the season in Grand Rapids! The annual tree lighting ceremony is December 6 at Grand Rapids Art Museum. The lighting will be followed by the opening of ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle!

Mark your calendars now for Thursday, April 11, at the Grand Rapids Art Museum.  Specialized coffee roasts, along with desserts, appetizers and the sounds of jazz, will be featured at a fundraising event for the Groundswell initiative.
