Visitors to Downtown Grand Rapids will be able to play with an over-sized chess set soon, according to Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.

On Wednesday night it was announced that the group plans to unveil the outdoor chess board Thursday morning. The board is described simply as "giant" (the size has not been specified).

The inaugural game will be played Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. at the north side of the Grand Rapids Art Museum.

Students from the Ottawa Hills/Brown Hutcherson "Believe 2 Become" program will be playing the inaugural game during the unveiling.

Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. says that the board will be available for the public's use daily during city park hours.
