Help is on the Way for Senior Food Insecurity

Last year, they only had 12 drivers on staff who drove over 427,000 miles!

The demand for milk has gone down during the pandemic and farms are dumping extra milk, so the nation's largest grocery store chain is going to make sure it doesn't go to waste.

This time of year, food banks and food pantries are working extra hard to keep their shelves stocked. For those in a charitable mood, you might wonder what these charities seeking for donations. Here are 10 ideas:

This Thursday, November 21, the Twisted Rooster restaurant will make room on its draft list for half a dozen beers from Brewery Vivant.  The goal being to pique the interest of local beer geeks with this season's debut of Vivant's PlowHorse imperial stout, and, more importantly, encourage a big turnout.

Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank, one of the nation's largest and most effective food banks, is joining the Mow Down Huger Campaign. From now until October 7th, all money raised by the Food Bank, will be matched by Weingartz, Michigan's family-owned and Detroit operated provider of outdoor power equipment.

We need to all come together to help fight hunger in West Michigan.  It is a much bigger problem than anyone lets on. There are food banks open to those in need, and people are donating food through many collection drives, but, there is another way communities are helping to fight hunger in West Michigan.   It's through community garden projects.
