Detroit's Ford Fireworks are famous throughout the state of Michigan. But there's another display a bit further north that just might be the biggest and best fireworks show you've never attended.

The Fourth of July is a time for celebration and fireworks, but many veterans seek an alternative to the loud fireworks displays this time of year. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency are working together to provide alternative camping options for veterans and others, including pet owners, who are seeking a quieter 4th of July.

The 4th of July, 2015, is behind us, and it was a wonderful weekend as we celebrated our creation of this country when we declared, and fought for, our independence from Great Britain. But, after watching this video I have to tell you, America, we have a problem!

In case you didn't make it to downtown Grand Rapids for our 5th of July fireworks show, and didn't see or hear them, then you must have been in another state, since the show was huge and amazing! Thanks to Amway for the amazing fireworks display, honoring all those men and women around the world who serve, and protect America's security and freedoms!

Dubbed “Flags On The Fourth!” Lowell is honored to be the Michigan community chosen to host our state’s official military band this 4th of July. The Michigan National Guard 126 Army Band, based in Wyoming, takes the stage at the historic Lowell Showboat from 7:00 – 9:00 PM for the 4th Of July musical celebration...

Reserved seat tickets for the West Michigan Whitecaps’ July 4th holiday week games will be offered for a very special $5 price for one day only. Tuesday, July 2nd, fans can purchase tickets to the Thursday, July 4th and Friday, July 5th games for the special price of $5, more than half off the regular $10.50 price. There is a limit of eight tickets per person for this special.

I have a big THANKS to give out to the West Michigan Tourist Association.  They really do an amazingt job promoting West Michigan, and keeping all of us up-to-date on all the fun things happening throughout the seasons. One of the big celebrations is the 4th of July, and here is an update of fireworks and cool places and things to do.

The shooting that occurred in downtown Grand Rapids after the fireworks on Monday night was caught on tape! A man named Tom Daly shot the video using his cell phone and then posted it on YouTube.  The fight started in the parking lot across from Rosa Parks Circle after the fireworks Monday night. Alcohol poisoning is the predominant reason boys visit the Emergency Room twice as much during the 4th Of July Weekend.  It appears to be a high risk period for them.  The statistics were pretty striking for the holiday weekend period studied...
