WXYZ reports that North Bay Produce of Traverse City has recalled 2,297 cases of apples that they have shipped out to retailers because of possible Listeria contamination.

According to the news story from WXYZ, this is a voluntary recall, but if you bought Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Fuji, Jonamac, Jonathan or Red Delicious apples before October 16th in plastic bags with Great Lakes, North Bay Produce Pure Michigan on it, you probably don't want to eat them.

WXYZ says the apples could also be in white paper or clear plastic tote bags that individual retailers sell.  The states North bay Distributes to are: Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas.

only the stated varieties shipped between October 16th and 21st are being recalled, all other North Bay produce is affected, WXYZ reports.
