Every year, the American Farm Bureau Federation releases a study on how much it should cost the average family to serve Thanksgiving dinner for the year. And every year, I'm like, "Which grocery stores are these people shopping at?"

So how much should it cost to serve 10 people a full Thanksgiving dinner in 2015 according to the experts? Only $50.11, or just over than $5 per person. That's up 70 cents from last year. Here's the breakdown:

  • A 16-pound turkey, $23.04.
  • 14 ounces of stuffing, $2.61.
  • Three pounds of sweet potatoes, $3.57. (I'll just skip these. It'll save me some money and I think sweet potatoes are gross.)
  • 12 ounces of fresh cranberries, $2.29.
  • 12 rolls, $2.25.
  • One pound of peas, $1.52.
  • One pound of carrots and celery, plus other miscellaneous ingredients, $3.97.
  • A gallon of milk, $3.25.
  • Two pie shells, 30 ounces of pumpkin pie mix, and a half pint of whipped cream, $7.61.
