Restaurant Week Grand Rapids is on for 2020, but with some changes this year to help support local eateries.

It hasn't been easy on the restaurant industry amid the coravirus pandemic and stay-at-home order, with restaurants required to switch to carry-out only, and then allowed to open at limited capacity to ensure public safety.

Experience Grand Rapid says they've revamped Restaurant Week to encourage the public to patronize more eateries and they've made it easier for restaurants to participate.

This year, Restaurant Week diners will download a digital pass, which will be available soon, to their smartphones. They’ll use the pass to check in at participating restaurants. Diners will receive a return visit coupon at every restaurant at which they check in. It could be a free dessert offer, a buy-one-get-one-free deal, or a meal discount, all redeemable within 60 days of their Restaurant Week visit.

Diners who check in to four restaurants will earn a special yet-to-be-announced foodie-themed gift from Experience Grand Rapids.

According to Fox 17, restaurants do not have to create a special menu for Restaurant Week, as they have in the past. Restaurants can create special menus if they'd like, but it's not required. In addition, the fee to participate has been waived.

Restaurants who'd like to participate can sign up here by July 15.
