REI Coming to Grand Rapids in Spring 2019
Campers, climbers, cyclists, and other outdoor enthusiasts will have a new shopping option in Grand Rapids this spring.
WZZM-13 reports that outdoor co-op REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc.) is opening a location at the intersection of 28th Street SE and Mall Drive SE, just south of Woodland Mall.
Michelle Yancy, REI retail director for the Midwest district, said in a release,
“We are thrilled to be adding our fourth store in the state and our first location in Western Michigan. This new location will allow us to connect nearly 10,000 active REI members in Grand Rapids to the many outdoor activities this region has to offer.”
The 20,000 square-foot store will carry gear and apparel for outdoor activities including paddling, biking and running. In-store workshops will be offered as well.
REI says that later this year they plan to hire over 40 employees for the Grand Rapids store. Anyone interested in applying can do so online here.
