It is always a tough thing when the power goes out. You don't have lights, heating, air conditions, the fridge is out, food in the freezer may thaw, and it goes on.

With storms you never know when it will be restored and that is so frustrating. Consumers Energy and their crews work so hard to get it back on as fast as possible.

Well, there won't be a storm to knock out power this weekend, but Consumers Energy is supporting ITC Michigan with upgrades to electric equipment in the Cedar Springs area, so they have a planned outage this weekend. Yuck!

Fox17 reported Consumers Energy said they are going to make the upgrades and repairs from 11:00 P.M. this Saturday, April 25, until 8:00 A.M. the next day, Sunday, April 26.

They have tried to contact every customer involved, about 2,700, by postcards mailed to everyone in the affected areas.

It is also a good idea for all customers to sign up for outage alerts at the Consumers Energy website.

Steve Herrygers, senior executive director of high voltage distribution said:

“We understand how much our customers rely on consistent electric service. Our teams are coordinating closely with ITC to support this work and to ensure the outage is carried out as safely and efficiently as possible. We appreciate our customers’ patience as this important work is completed.”

Obviously the work needs to be done to make everything better. Consumers Energy schedules equipment work like this overnight to minimize disruptions for businesses and homes.
