Picnic Pops Classical Fireworks are Tonight
You've waited for it, and now, it's here. The D&W Fresh Market Picnic Pops Classical Fireworks concert. Your patience has paid off, but don't miss it because it is tonight!
It's a bit different than in past years, because it's a one-night only, special event tonight, August 3. Why? Because Music Director Marcelo Lehninger will be able to make his D&W Fresh Market Picnic Pops debut as conductor.
Musical highlights for Classical Fireworks include works by Aaron Copland and George Gershwin, and the finale from Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World.” The evening ends with Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky’s perennially popular 1812 Overture, leading to a fireworks extravaganza to end the show.
Gates open at 5:45 p.m. at Cannonsburg Ski Area, 6800 Cannonsburg Rd, NE, for picnicking and pre-concert entertainment by Michael Schaeffer on the accordion.
The concert has a slightly later start, 8 p.m., so that it's dark enough for the fireworks at the end of the concert.
