Monsoon Vietnamese Cuisine Opens Downtown Grand Rapids

Back in February we told you about a few new businesses opening up in the hotel district downtown GR, including Monsoon Vietnamese Cuisine - and the new restaurant is celebrating its grand opening, Thursday, June 2!

Monsoon will be open for dinner on June 2, 4:00p.m.-9:45p.m. and regular hours starting June 3, which are 11a.m to 9;45p.m. To celebrate the grand opening, Monsoon is offering 10% off during their first week!

According to Wood TV 8, co-owner Phong Nguyen is also the restaurant's chef. He and three other entrepreneurs form Vietnam teamed up to create Vietbrother Restaurant, LLC, and the casual fine dining concept for Monsoon.

Formerly Art Caribbean Fusion Cuisine, crews have spent the last few months transforming the space with a new bar and flooring, décor, and private chef table overlooking the open concept kitchen.

Monsoon Vietnamese Cuisine Menu

Owners say they want Monsoon's menu to showcase the depth of Vietnamese flavor.

Appetizers and shareables include spring rolls, wings, grilled pork skewers, braised pork belly, and crispy sticky rice cakes.

For entrees you'll find pho, roasted salmon, grilled tomahawk porkchop, roasted chicken, fried rice with Wagyu steak, beef tenderloin, and stir fried tofu.

Nguyen tells Woods TV 8 that the restaurant's food will be flavored with many roots and herbs commonly found in Vietnamese cuisine, including lemongrass, galangal, ginger, and garlic.

For drinks, Monsoon is serving mocktails until the restaurant's liquor license is approved.
